Human trafficking service providers play a critical role in helping survivors navigate the criminal justice system while also serving as valuable partners to law enforcement and prosecutors. This webinar will explore the realities of prosecutions and how direct service professionals can promote trauma-informed practices throughout investigations and prosecutions involving survivor testimony.
Through a panel discussion featuring former prosecutor Jenna King Lewis and former federal criminal investigator Dave Rogers, participants will learn about trauma-informed prosecutions and how service providers can support investigative and prosecutorial efforts through role clarification, survivor preparation, and coordinated advocacy that prioritizes both survivor well-being and case integrity.
Designed for direct service providers, this webinar will offer practical tools for strengthening partnerships with law enforcement and prosecutors to improve outcomes for survivors and the justice system alike.
About the Panelists:
Jenna King Lewis is the Texas State Director for Right on Crime, the national criminal justice reform initiative of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Prior to Right on Crime, she served as a prosecutor in Ventura County, California before shifting into public policy as General Counsel for a Texas State Senator. Her policy work has also extended beyond Texas through her work with Atlas Free, a global network of organizations working to combat human trafficking. She holds her Juris Doctorate from the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law and a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dave Rogers, ret. U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation federal criminal investigator, has experience in both nonprofit and law enforcement roles in the anti-trafficking sector. Rogers managed the FBI’s global Human Trafficking program representing the FBI in federal inter-agency work, creating training programs for law enforcement officers, and developing governmental policy. Rogers has trained government units on human trafficking enforcement from Central and South America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. Rogers also served as the Director of Law Enforcement Operations at the Human Trafficking Institute, establishing dedicated anti-human trafficking units within the police forces in Uganda and Belize, and in the Ugandan prosecutor’s office.
